Vykort - HOPEWELL VILLAGE NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE, near Birdsboro, Pa. This painting is in the Visitor, Center built by the National Park Service to introduce this restored village to the public. It shows this early ironmaking community much as it looked in the 1830's. Hopewell Village repre- sents the hundreds of charcoal burning, cold-blast furnaces and communities which made America's iron until 1840.
